Good Morrow Otterites!

I’m a day late with a quick post today. I’m playing hooky from the office and have discovered a streaming channel that plays UK Top Gear continuously! I’m back with Hammond, May and Clarkson all bloody day, as I’m sure they would enthuse. It has been a serious distraction from my attempts to finish my GJ Meyer book on the Tudor dynasty and work on my writing project. I am up to 25,000 words, maybe a third of what I need, probably less. As I’ve said, even if nobody ever reads it, or I never finish it, or it stinks on ice, I’ve had fun making the attempt and it was all me. Yes, Robert and Francis have been supportive and given many tips, but I’ve not taken a seminar or used some kind of software plotting tool or anything. Straight from my head into electrons. Probably not the way to do it, but hey, before I started I didn’t know I could write 5,000 words.

As mentioned above, I’m also trying to plow through this excellent Meyer book on the always fascinating Tudor dynasty. Superlatively destructive and viciously bipolar over one hundred and eighteen some years of monarchy, the Tudors left England pretty much broke, religiously isolated (Protestant yes, but not Lutheran or anything like it), and militarily impotent. Yet eventually England would be the leading power in all the world, with a thriving constitutional monarchy and great economic power. Quite a feat for a backwater island nation repeatedly convulsed over religion.

Anyway, forgive the day late nature of this post, but I think the drive across Bolivia is the next episode coming up and I want to watch and laugh as Jeremy Clarkson sinks into Amazonian ooze up to his zipper.
