Robert and Andre back in the day.

Wow, just when you think the jam sessions couldn’t get any better, a legend shows up!

Yep, I’m talking about our newest addition to the band, Brother Andre, who’s legendary guitar status should need no introduction, although I’m going to give him one.

Robert and Andre go back the farthest, as witnessed by their collaboration photo from back in the day here. Yes, Robert’s hair was just as lustrous as ever.

I’ve known and worked with Brother Andre a lot myself in recent days, and since he started listening to the show, he kept talking about how good it was, which I took as kind of a “you guys got room for one more to jam with?”

The answer, of course, was “Hell yes!”

Andre is a true master of the craft, a rock-n-roll icon whose blues background and hard-hitting style make him the perfect addition to the band. He’s a power-to-behold—on the bass guitar especially—and if you’ve ever heard his great hit “Promises” from 1978 you know what I’m talking about. (I think that’s the equally-awesome Mrs. Andre on the backing vocals, by the way.)

We’re looking forward to Andre’s awesome contributions to the band, and in celebration of his coming onto the stage, enjoy this amazing 30th anniversary jam session in Madison Square Garden from 1992 celebrating Cajun’s monster career with his stupendous 1964 hit “My Back Pages“.

While neither I nor the Imperator were present, many other legendary notables were. Take notice of Martin on the second verse (without his hat mind you), Andre’s killer riff and vocals on the fourth, master lyricist Cajun himself on the fifth verse and the final powerful sixth sung by Robert, rocking it in the purple jacket and perfecto mustache. (He’s such a fashionista.)
