So listeners/readers, how about we talk another “today in history”. On September 30, 1399, Henry Bolingbroke was proclaimed Henry IV of England.
Way back in Episode 11, we talk about seeing a live production of Shakespeare’s famous “Henry IV Part 2” in Louisville’s Central Park, as presented by the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival. We are huge fans of Shakespeare in the Park and are disappointed by the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the pandemic. We’re anxious for next summer! In episode 10 we discuss the whole 2019 season and send our appreciation to the creators and performers. You will find that a regular theme of Snakes & Otters. We regularly cite the performers, writers and directors of things we enjoy, and explore that key component of humanity, the drive to create. Humans weren’t meant to merely exist, but to build, create, perform, and design. We relate to each other through our creativity.
All of us in Snakes & Otters have tried our hands at performing/acting, and Robert and Francis are regular public speakers. Snakes & Otters is another way the 3 of us are “in the arena”, marring our faces with dust and sweat, striving valiantly. Yes, I started with a simple “today Henry IV became King of England” and ended with an examination of the human condition through creativity.
That’s what we do.
