Hey Otterites!
Have I got a story for you on this glorious Martin Monday. Francis, Robert and I decided on a quick S&O breakfast excursion this past Saturday. So we donned our S&O hoodies and headed out for our new favorite breakfast place, Biscuit Belly. If you aren’t familiar with the concept, Belly focuses their menu on good old country style hearty biscuits, one of my favorite things in the whole world.
Take biscuits, throw in some eggs, sausages, hash browns (as big as a plate I might add) and you got serious breakfast. But Francis really outdid Robert and me, with the Belly version of a Hot Brown. A Hot Brown is a special Kentucky treat, developed at the famous Brown Hotel. Toast, turkey, creamy gravy and bacon in an open face style sandwich. The Belly variant ditches the toast and subs some homestyle biscuits. It was amazing looking. Tremendous plate of food for Francis. Now Otterites, a secret about Francis. If we are at a buffet style eating event or restaurant, Francis has to eat last. We want to make sure there is some for the rest of us.
So Francis is devouring this beautiful plate of turkey meat, bacon, biscuits and gravy when the incredibly nice lady we assume was the shift manager approached our table and asked “Would you like more gravy?” Now Otterites, I ask you, there’s only one answer to such a question, and it is an emphatic yes. Always get more gravy when offered. Franny’s eyes got about as big as our plates and the manager brought out some additional gravy, just for that second biscuit Francis still had on his plate.
We have now all jointly decided that this may just be the greatest question in the history of mankind, and will become a standard question for S&O, especially when the affirmative answer is obvious. So next time the answer is going to be yes, be sure to ask, “Would you like more gravy?”
I think we mentioned gravy briefly in our bad food ideas episode, as a contrapositive to the awful foods we discussed. So here’s that link Otterites. “Would you like more gravy?”
