I discovered a great new magazine this weekend. Picked up a copy of Bourbon+ and it is good stuff. The tag line is “the people, stories and science behind the bottle”.
Of particular interest is the article/profile of Heaven Hill Distillery and owners the Shapira family. Max Shapira, the patriarch, seems like a super business leader and interesting guy. Heaven Hill is one of the last independent family owned distilleries out there. They’ve been very strategic about acquiring brands and expanding the portfolio. There’s also a brand new Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience at their headquarters in Bardstown, KY.
I’m sensing a road trip in S&O’s future, and perhaps a passing around of this fall’s issue. Next issue should be out in December!
