Hey there listeners and readers
Wanted to put a capper on the hamburger discussion. Francis mentioned one of my favorite local places for a good burger and fries, W. W. Cousins. Great place, steak style fries, makes their own buns right on site. Toppings bar, homemade cookies, just a super fun place. We’ve been going there since the Bjorn and his older brother were just tots. They adapted to the pandemic with a makeshift drive thru and kept the place going. Kid friendly.
My other favorite local place is a tiny joint in Old Louisville called Burger Boy Diner. Corner of Barrett and Brook. Juke box and everything. Great burgers made fresh on the flat top, super seasoned fries and even a counter. They also serve a mean breakfast. Haven’t been in ages, but I’ve heard they’ve weathered the pandemic so far and are still open. Another Bjorn favorite. Again he is the burger evangelist.
Of course we even have a local place that claims to have invented the cheeseburger, Kaelin’s! After a change of ownership, it has re-opened. Also haven’t been in some time, but it is close to good old BU (Bellarmine University, or “BOO” as the kids call it) and I sense a need for Snakes & Otters to make a pilgrimage. Also a super neighborhood place, making everything local.
If you swing by our fair city to say catch Shakespeare in the Park and a nice bourbon, don’t forget to grab a burger hereabouts.
And changing the subject completely (this is a James Joycian style blog for me as you know) I will have you know I did email Francis and Robert first thing this morning with “Beware the Ides of March”. I just didn’t make my post about it or Caesar or anything. I sure that disappoints Francis especially. So no links to an episode this post, as I think I’ve already linked to our episode about Shakespeare in the Park. So you are off the hook for listening to an episode, but not for getting a great cheeseburger!
