Howdy All!

Today’s Martin Monday is a tribute to old school road comic Tim Wilson. Tim was a regular on morning radio shows like The Bob & Tom Show, and spent his career on the road doing stand up. He’s a huge Snakes & Otters favorite, and our Spotify playlists are full of his albums. He was in that same country, Southern fried vein as Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable Guy. Never had his own TV show, he stuck to the road and to recording. He was ornery (that’s a country word), profane and a ton of fun. Just what Snakes & Otters aspires to be. Or at least me anyway.

Tim was a talented musician too, and mix stand up with novelty songs. “Acid Country” was my early favorite. Later would come some comedy standards like “Church League Softball Fistfight”, “I Could Be Wrong” and “I Married A Woman Talks Like Jerry Reed”.

Tim was a big part of our return trip from Springfield. I think we listened to Tim for nearly the whole 5 hours home somehow. A particular favorite of ours is the “King of England” bit. I think we’ve even done a few “King of England” exclamations in the episodes. Tim is where we stole that. We even got to see Tim live and in person a few years ago, and he graciously let us be in pictures with him. It was an awesome show.

Tim unfortunately died of a massive heart attack in 2014. Very sad day here amongst the Snakes & Otters crew, and it was obvious that the cast of the Bob & Tom radio show were devastated when they heard the news as well.

Check out the “King of England” bit from the Bob & Tom Show in this quick YouTube clip. Then keep going. There’s tons of Tim on YouTube.
