Hey Otterites!

We’ve got a big New Year’s Weekend underway here at the Brotherhood of Snakes & Otters. First off was a breakfast at Wagner’s, the legendary Louisville diner across the street from Churchill Downs. Good food and good service, and very steeped in Louisville and track lore. A true Louisville landmark since 1922. First time for me and it didn’t disappoint. Many thanks for letting Snakes & Otters take up a table for close to hours guys.

Next up was a trip to the Frazier History Museum downtown. Now we are longtime fans of the Frazier, in fact Ol’ Martin here used to volunteer in the education department many moons ago. Museum has been totally revamped since those days, and focuses on Kentucky history, which means bourbon. In fact, the Frazier is now officially the launch point for the Bourbon Trail. We soaked up tons of great Kentucky and bourbon history, with Francis correcting many of the inaccuracies in the displays. He’s that steeped in bourbon history that much gang. Robert had already set us up with the main event of the day, a bourbon tasting and experience at the Frazier. Got to do some sipping of Larceny, Russell Reserve 10 Year and Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style. Great time, and Sam, our Bourbon Ambassador for the event was very knowledgeable and super fun. Best of all, Snakes & Otters made a new friend, Spragga from NYC (hope I spelled that close, I’d had a couple of shots by the time I put that in my phone). She was housesitting for someone on a ski trip and likes to go on adventures in the places she visits, and fate put her at the next bar stool to Snakes & Otters. Great place to be it turns out, she was a ton of fun to do the bourbon experience with. More shout outs to our new friend from NYC will coming in our next episodes I’m sure.

Monday is a recording day for us, and we plan to get a hoopajoob on creative writing out, then our January history episode on Charlemagne and of course a Code of Honor. Plus Robert took tons of pictures at the Frazier, so we’ll be discussing those as well. Hope you can join us Spragga, and if so be sure to email us, snakesandotterspodcast@gmail.com.
